People’s Choice Awards 2014 – Predictions

Kicking off this year’s award show season will be The People’s Choice Awards (PCAs), airing Wednesday, January 8 on CBS (and GlobalTV). Celebrating its 40^th year, the PCAs honor the fans’ choices for favorites among many categories of music, movies, and television. With fan voting, who is nominated against whom plays a significant role in predicting the winners.

There are too many categories to print all predictions, but I will share with you some of the more popular (or important) ones:

Favorite Network TV Comedy

This one will really come down to The Big Bang Theory and Glee. Both are great, and though I don’t really class Glee as a comedy, I think its fans are too strong not garner a win.

My Pick: Glee

Favorite Comedic TV Actor / Favorite Comedic TV Actress

Again these both will come down to the power and number of fans. In my opinion, I think it should go to Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco, but Glee fans unite and bring in two more wins.

My Picks: Darren Criss (Glee) and Lea Michele (Glee)

Favorite New TV Drama

With ten nominees in this category, you would think this one would be harder to pick, but I believe this was one of the easier ones. While all the shows nominated have great ratings and will no doubt find a second season in the future, there is one with a very strong fan base.

My Pick: The Originals

Favorite Sci-fi/Fantasy TV Show

Well, this one is also fairly simple. Even though Beauty and the Beast is a great show and has a very strong following, you just can’t beat the vampires.

My Pick: The Vampire Diaries

Favorite Sci-fi/Fantasy TV Actor / Actress

… You really can't beat the vampires.

My Picks: Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev

Favorite Male Artist

I was surprised by the mix of nominees in this category. All are great artists, but I think this will come to the ‘who against whom’ scenario.

My Pick: Bruno Mars

Favorite Female Artist

Again, all are amazing singers... but this one comes down to timing. Britney began her comeback; Katy Perry released a number one album; Pink is going strong; Selena Gomez is just coming off her tour... but Demi Lovato has had a epic year.

My Pick: Demi Lovato

Favorite TV Bromance – Ryan & Esposito (Castle)

Favorite TV Gal Pals – Rachel & Santana (Glee)

Favorite On-Screen Chemistry – Castle & Beckett (Castle)

Favorite TV Crime Drama – Castle

Favorite Breakout Artist – Austin Mahone

Favorite Pop Artist – Demi Lovato

Favorite Country Artist – Taylor Swift

Favorite Band – One Direction

Favorite Song – “Roar” (Katy Perry)

Favorite Album – Bangerz (Miley Cyrus)

Favorite Music Video – “Best Song Ever” (One Direction)
